Motherboards have quietly become one of the calmer parts of the 2026 PC market. While DDR5 doubled and GDDR7 became a scavenger hunt, board pricing sits roughly where it did a year ago. That flatness matters — it means the motherboard is one of the few components where you can still find the same value proposition that existed pre-shortage.

The choice on both AM5 and LGA1851 comes down to a small set of questions: how much I/O do you actually need, what CPU tier are you running, and how much do you care about USB4 and Wi-Fi 7. Here is where the value sits on both platforms.
